CME I Committee Chair

Neema Pathiyil, PA-C

Neema Pathiyil is a Physician Assistant, graduating from Texas Tech University Health Science Center Midland in 2015. She Later obtained her Master of Business Administration in Health Care Management from UT Tyler in 2022. She has worked as a Physician Assistant with UTMD Anderson Cancer Center for more than 10 years. She started her career as an ophthalmology PA (8+ years) and is currently working as the APP supervisor at NW Surgical and Specialty Care Center. She obtained her certificate in robotic training in 2023 and enjoys first assisting robotic urology and gyn cases. Outside of work, she enjoys being a hair and makeup artist, playing badminton and pickleball and travelling.

Ashley Allen, PA-C

Ashley received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2005. She subsequently received her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Baylor College of Medicine in 2021. Shortly thereafter, she began her career at MD Anderson Cancer Center in the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Department. Ashley began her participation in TGCPAA as a student member and served as the TGCPAA Baylor College of Medicine Student Liaison.

Tushar Patel, PA-C

Tushar received his Bachelor of Science in Biology from University of Kentucky followed by his Masters of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Baylor College of Medicine. He loves working as a surgical PA in the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at MD Anderson Cancer Center. In his free time, he likes to hike and catch up on movies and TV shows.

Caroline Hawkins, PA-C

Caroline received her Bachelor of Science in Allied Health from Texas A&M University in 2020 followed by her Masters of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from The University of South Alabama in 2023. Upon graduating, she began her career at MD Anderson Cancer Center in the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Department and has loved being a surgical PA.


Professional Development Committee Chair

Amy Ly, PA-C

Amy completed her undergraduate studies at UNC-Chapel Hill. She then worked with stroke and TBI patients as a Clinical Research Assistant for two years. She served one year in Americorps, Community Healthcorps in NYC, delivering free cancer screenings to uninsured patients as an outreach and engagement specialist prior to pursuing her PA career. In 2018, Amy graduated from Wingate University with a Master of Physician Assistant Studies and is currently employed at MD Anderson Cancer Center, working in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. In her spare time, she loves spending time with her Australian Shepherd, traveling the world, and sharing delicious food.

Marlena Roman, PA-C

Marlena earned her B.S. in Biobehavioral Health from Penn State University in 2017 and went on to complete her Physician Assistant studies at Nova Southeastern University – Jacksonville. Since graduating in 2019, she has specialized in Plastic Surgery, gaining extensive experience in both reconstructive and aesthetic procedures. In 2022, Marlena relocated to Houston, where she joined the MD Anderson Department of Plastic Surgery, while also continuing to work in aesthetics part-time. Outside of her professional life, she enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with friends and her golden retriever.


Student Chair

Colby Tyler, PA-C

Colby Tyler graduated from Tulane University in 2015 with a bachelor's degree in Business Marketing but soon realized her true passion was in medicine. She completed a post-baccalaureate program to fulfill her science prerequisites and gained clinical experience working as a CRNA. In May 2020, she earned her Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies from Lenoir-Rhyne University. Following graduation, she completed a 13-month Surgical Residency Program at Duke University, finishing in October 2021. In December 2021, she joined the Department of Plastic Surgery at MD Anderson Cancer Center, where she continues to practice. She has been a member of the Texas Gulf Coast PA Association (TGCPAA) since 2021 and began serving as Student Chair in 2023.
