CME 1 Committee Chair

Gibson, Heather

Heather received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and minor in Neuroscience from Texas A&M University in 2010. She then completed a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2013. After graduation, she joined the Surgical Oncology department at MD Anderson Cancer Center. Heather joined TGCPAA in 2015.

CME 2 Committee Chair

Ready, Ashley

Ashley received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Spanish from Texas Tech University in 2003. She then attended the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston receiving her Masters of Physician Assistant Studies in 2006. Upon graduation, she completed a surgical residency with Norwalk Hospital and Yale University School of Medicine. After completing the residency program, she returned to Texas and worked for 2 years with Orthopedic Trauma Associates in the Texas Medical Center. In 2008, she began her current position with MD Anderson Cancer Center in Interventional Radiology.

Professional Development Committee Chair

Schweitzer, Brooke

Brooke is a graduate of Des Moines University with a Master of Science Degree in Physician Assistant Studies. Her undergraduate degree was completed at Nebraska Wesleyan University in Biology, with minor degrees in Chemistry and Psychology. Upon graduation, she practiced emergency medicine and trauma at a critical access hospital in Kansas, where she also served as interim administrator. There, she also covered the family medicine clinic, two nursing homes, and patients on the ward. She then moved to Houston and began working at MD Anderson Cancer Center in plastic and reconstructive surgery where she currently practices. She is a didactic preceptor at Baylor College of Medicine, clinical PA preceptor for PA and medical students on surgical rotations. She teaches basic and advanced surgical workshops at MD Anderson and Texas Academy of Physician Assistants (TAPA), where she also serves as a conference lecturer. Brooke is an active member of TGCPAA where she currently serves as the professional development chair. She is also a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) and Pi Alpha National Honor Society for Physician Assistants. Currently, she is a doctoral candidate in the Doctor of Healthcare Administration program.

Membership Committee Chair

Geppner, Alexis

Alexis received her Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Sciences from Stony Brook University in 2005. She worked as a Medical Laboratory Scientist at Stony Brook University Medical Center from 2005-2009 in Chemistry and Hematology, spending the latter 2 years at the Stony Brook University Cancer Center. In 2011, she received her second Bachelor’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies from Long Island University- Brooklyn Campus. She began her career as a physician assistant at MD Anderson Cancer Center in the Department of Leukemia in October 2011. For the last 6 summers, Alexis has volunteered at the Arthur C. Luf Children’s Burn Camp in Union, Connecticut; an all-expenses paid camp for children with burn injuries. She has been an active member of AAPA since 2009, TGCPAA since 2013, and TAPA since 2014.

Publicity Committee Chair

Vo, Angela Namphuong

Angela completed a Bachelor of Science in psychology with a minor in biology from the University of Houston in May 2011. After completing this program, she went on to attain her Master of Physician Assistant Studies in December 2014. During her schooling, Angela completed clinical rotations in Pediatrics, Orthopedic Surgery, General Surgery, emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, Family Medicine and OB/GYN. She joined Kelsey-Seybold in May 2015. Angela is a native Houstonian who loves exploring the city’s restaurants. She also enjoys running along Allen Parkway, weight training, cooking healthy meals, spending time with family, and being a mentor for other aspiring physician assistants.

Social Committee Chair

Gibbons, Jamie

Jamie is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin - Madison in 2010 with a bachelors of science in biology. Following this time, she spent two years working as a patient care associate at a local hospital in addition to serving as an site leader for an after school program for children with special needs through Easter Seals of Southeastern Wisconsin. Jamie attended the physician assistant program at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science in Chicago, IL. After graduation, she accepted a job working in the leukemia department at MD Anderson Cancer Center in September 2014. Outside of her role as a PA, Jamie is passionate about traveling and being active outdoors through running, cycling, or doing anything on the water. She is also committed to being involved in the community and is an active volunteer for Camp for All, a camping and retreat facility for children and adults with challenging illnesses and special needs, and for One Step at a Time, an organization that provides week long for camps for children with cancer. Jamie joined TGCPAA in 2015 and is excited about expanding her role as its social committee chair.

Whitmer, Heather

Heather received a Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology and a minor in Spanish from the University of Oklahoma in 2011. She then completed a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Western University of Health Sciences in Los Angeles, CA, in 2014. After graduation, she moved to Houston where she joined the Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery Department at MD Anderson Cancer Center. She loves to travel and enjoys spending time outdoors running, hiking, and biking. Heather joined TGCPAA in 2015.
