Message from the President

The Texas Gulf Coast Physician Assistant Association (TGCPAA), a division of TAPA, was established in 1985 to provide support, networking and CME opportunities to Physician Assistants in the greater Houston area. Our members are not only involved in the local level but also the state and national level & continue to lobby for our profession. Our organization offers continuing medical education (category 1 and 2 CME), job postings, professional development opportunities, leadership opportunities, community service opportunities and provides a venue for professional networking. Mission Statement

The Texas Gulf Coast Physician Assistant Association is committed to the professional development and enrichment of all our members. We hold regular meetings which provide updated medical education and national certification credits. We supply a website for the exchange of employment opportunities to the physician-physician assistant community. We support outreach programs to help the underserved and disenfranchised people of our area. We support and hold ethical medical standards and guidelines that ensure the safety and welfare of our patients, our community, and our physician assistant profession.


Continuing Medical Education

TGCPAA offers a minimum of six hours of Category I CME.

Not only will you have access to job openings online, but by attending our meetings you will hear firsthand about new and exciting opportunities in the region.

Professional Development

TGCPAA will help keep you up-to-date on changes in the legislature and scope of practice modifications.

Opportunities to Serve the Community

TGCPAA has developed a committee to begin to serve the Gulf Coast area by helping with organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, Star of Hope, & Dan's House of Hope..

Leadership Opportunities

TGCPAA is a great way to step-out and get involved in a regional organization. There are opportunities to serve on Committees as well as on the Board of Directors.

Social Networking

TGCPAA is an excellent way to meet and network with local Physician Assistants both in the Texas Medical Center and in private practice settings.

Fellow Member ($36 per year)

A fellow member is a physician assistant who is a graduate of an accredited physician assistant program or who is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.

Lifetime Member ($360)

A lifetime member is equivalent to a fellow member, but is a member for life.

Associate Member ($36 per year)

An associate member is a practicing provider in an allied health field or medical profession other than physician assistant.

Student Member (free)

A student member is an individual who is currently enrolled in an accredited PA Program.


It's expected that there will be a greater need for primary health-care providers as the demand for health-care services continues to grow. Physician assistants can help alleviate some of this pressure as they work along side physicians in many health-care settings. Read More
